I think this is a really good song, but it suffers from being too overtly new-era Pearl Jam. I can't possibly see this being part of anything other than Avocado onwards and it has kinda distracted me the more I listen to this song.

I'd rather them embrace new-era Pearl Jam and do it well than try and fail to sound like old-era Pearl Jam.

I'm not really with you on that one and here's why: the band has proven on this album that the best songs are ones that continue to evolve their sound, not just stick to routine. While that's not always strictly true, it provides a far more interesting experience for the listener. So basically, I think that while this song is really good and one of the better songs on the album, I don't really find it overly interesting.

To me it looks like the one song which pushes their boundaries the most is being criticised for its chorus (Infallible). "Pendulum" is an obvious standout, but it's not doing anything they haven't done before. "Sirens" is also breaking some new ground, but a lot of people hate it.

It would fit right at home on ITW, except for the passionate band performance. Maybe that's an easier reference to accept?

After listening again last night, I am putting this up there with In Hiding for me and that is saying a whole lot. I'm really digging this tune!

I like this song more every day that I haven't heard fishbob attempting to sing the chorus.

Spoiler: show
;) :P

I'm not kidding when I say I'd pay cash money for an LB cover album of fishbob on vox and doug on a capella instrumentation.

I'd like to hear the instrumental version of that album.

I think this song and Let the Records Play being next to one another provides more proof of a concept album. Why else would you put the two of the weakest songs on the album back-to-back?

Someone who doesn't perceive one or both of them to be amongst the weakest on the album?

I hate the intro/first verse of the song, but from that point on it's a good tune. reminds me a bit of cropduster.

I wouldn't criticize anything about Infallible other than the lyrics and the "yeah"s at the end, so in that regard I agree with you. Some of the standouts definitely don't push the boundaries as you've said, but I think MFS is definitely a different one that's one of the better tracks too

It was reverse psychology. You're now supposed to be recording your own rendition. I wanna hear you attempt the "Ja-ja Drown, Drown, drown" bit. ;)

This has slowly sunk down for me...
I like the bridge and the solo, but that's about it.

they are both about mid ranked tracks for me, and nothing is especially weak on this album
