Yup. Best show since The Wire.

Im afraid Game of Thrones is going to feel cartoonish after watching this.
Yeah, Game of Thrones isn't just a "high-fantasy" setting--as a TV show, I think it also works best a fantasy in the sense that it's an escape. I don't think there are any real interesting explorations of the human condition; it's just a cool story (with boobs). True Detective, on the other hand, has been a great exploration of darkness and all sorts of philosophical questions (with boobs). TD is also more technically interesting on so many levels.

I probably spoke too harshly in that last post (and here I am correcting myself, three minutes later, after thinking about my statement for like 5 seconds). Tyrion's story is by far the most fascinating on GoT, but I don't think there's much else there to match it.

Tonight cranked it back up after the lag last week. Finale should be great.

I can't to rewatch all 8.

Next week starts spring break for me, so once I'm done grading papers and prepping for classes this week, I have a feeling I'm going to be tempted to rewatch the first seven before next Sunday.

I liked this one, probably because we knew it was the penultimate episode and even coming out of it, there are 100 different ways the final one can go. Will Marty and Rust actually ever meet up with the scarred man? I'm still not convinced they will.

Hasn't looked at it that way, but maybe your right. Marty was totally on board with handing it to the task force from the get go, and was really quick to shoot Ledeoux.
