I listened to it when it surfaced. It was kind of nice to have, the lossiness was very apparent but it wasn't unlistenable. But it's not something I'd ever go back to, considering we have an entire tour's worth of lossless soundboard recordings that year.Birds in Hell wrote:So you see why I never bothered seeking it out.cutuphalfdead wrote:Yeah I forgot it was streamed live, not ripped from an embedded "stream" where they could take the mp3 as hosted. Which bootleg are you listening to?

The reason I enjoyed it was because they seemed so relaxed and I enjoyed the setlist. Not the best quality but a fun one to listen to.cutuphalfdead wrote:I listened to it when it surfaced. Sure, I'm glad I listened. If the quality was better I'd definitely go back to it.E.H. Ruddock wrote:The reason I enjoyed it was because they seemed so relaxed and I enjoyed the setlist. Whoa! From the sounds of it, when I listened to that show I got lucky that my ears didn't bleed or my head didn't explode from the awful transcoded mp3 sound. You guys make me laugh!Birds in Hell wrote:So you see why I never bothered seeking it out.cutuphalfdead wrote:Yeah I forgot it was streamed live, not ripped from an embedded "stream" where they could take the mp3 as hosted. I understand the difference in sound quality but refusing to listen to something because it's not a flac is pretty ridiculous. I can remember in the mid 90's paying huge money for bootlegs that sounded like absolute garbage in comparison to this Bellingham show.

Re: What bootleg are you listening to?
Comparing an audience recording (or an analog recording a few generations down the line) isn't really a good comparison with a transcoded MP3; I'd still take the former in most cases.
There's an abundance of good music out there, I don't really see a point listening to something I won't fully enjoy. Hell, I'd probably give a new Pearl Jam album a miss (or, at least, no more than a cursory listen) if it were MP3 only.
I know it doesn't bother everyone, that's cool. Lossy music is just less engaging, less immersive to me.

The "lossless" PJ Radio rips I've heard sound like total shit, quite frankly. They're not a particularly enjoyable listening experience even before they've been transcoded 3 times.

Fair enough. It is a pretty great show, but you're right there is a lot of better quality stuff out there to listen to. Imo it sounds better than most shows from 2008-2010 though.

It's amazing how much the presence of no more war on all the 08 setlists drags this tour down

01/14/95 - Constitution Hall: Washington, D.C. (Voters for Choice benefit)
Listening to the soundboard remaster series. This is Jack's first real show, right? Everything sounds so good.
I think I have a new favourite version of Black.

Currently listening to the Live at Easy Street EP. Man I love the way this is mixed - so much better than the 2005 boots (I'm pretty sure Matt has same setup at this show, but unlike those boots his snare doesn't sound like ass).
