Good man.

Does he like, or show an interest in all these comic book movies?

Well, almost.
My wife doesn't let her 16 year old watch Game of Thrones (with us, he can watch it on his own) because she thinks it would be awkward with all of the n*dity scenes.
See, I want to avoid this kind of stuff if I have a kid. My parents gave me a bunch stupid hang-ups about sex because of their very American, conservative attitude towards sexuality, which extended to sexual content in movies and TV. I would go out of my way not to make them feel like there's anything weird about or wrong with sexuality. It might make ME uncomfortable to watch things around them, but I would never want to put that on THEM.
That is her view, but I think it is because he's a boy. She pretty much raised him alone until I came along, I think it is just the birds/bees awkwardness. But I take him to see all the R-rated stuff that she won't go see.

And yes, joey hit it right on. She doesn't mind him watching that stuff, she just thinks it is awkward to watch with him.
I guess what I mean is I'd rather endure the awkwardness I would feel than communicate the awkwardness to them by saying they can watch it, but not with me. I feel like even that sends a weird message. But I totally get why someone would do it. I'm just a bit sensitive to this stuff because of all the crap I've had to deal with from my upbringing.
I mean, she doesn't tell him that he can't watch it with her because of that. We just watch when he isn't around. He's pretty much free to watch whatever at this point, she just chooses what she watches with him.
Also, verm, if it makes you feel any better, I have friends who are just as hung-up about sexuality and their parents were the exact opposite of what you've described yours being like. So there's no perfect system.

I had no rules when I was a kid when it came to movies. My dad would take me to anything. I stayed away from Freddy and Jason and stuff like that but that was self censorship. :D In the 80's every move had violence and swears and the one sex scene with boobs I don't have a problem with that sort of thing really its the hyper realistic violence and the,mes that I'm keeping from him for a while. It was more cartoony when I was a kid. Arnie would throw a pipe through a guys stomach but imagine that scene if they did it now.

i dont recall being sensored much as a child and I turned out mostly okay. I remember seeing the horror movies and ridiuclous 80 comedies. The one time my mother flipped out - oddly enough - was when I brought home the Spaghetti Incident because it had a song written by Charles Manson on it. I felt that was really strange of her at the time. She got over it and took us out T'piing again though.

I begged my mom to let me rent A Nightmare on Elm Street when I was six years old. She said I'd have nightmares. I promised her I wouldn't. So we rented it and watched it together. As soon as it was over I told her I wasn't going to bed that night because I was afraid I'd have nightmares.

My mom also took me to see Showgirls. My dad didn't want to go and she thought it would be good for me to see it since I wanted to be an actor and the movie dealt with exploitation and making decisions for your career and the trust you have to have in agents, managers, etc. Anyway...

Oh yeah he loves the 90's Batman movies and the '66 show. Batman and Robin is his favorite so maybe he should hang out with Uncle Vermin. :? I haven't let him watch the Nolan ones yet. I think he's watched all the Superman movies. Maybe not Returns. He's seen all the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. He's seen the first two X-Men movies. The two FF movies. He wants to see Ant-Man I'll take him to that but he loves Deadpool for some reason even though I don't know how he even knows about him but it will be a no to that movie. He wants to watch Daredevil too but that's a no.

Like I said, I'm sure I'm just hypersensitive to this stuff. I was sheltered from music and movies like CRAZY as a kid. Being someone who has always been drawn to music and movies, it was pretty horrible and wound up causing a lot of problems in my relationship with my parents. As did a lot of similar-ish things they did.

I think the nightmares thing is the main reason my wife says no to a lot of things. I've wanted to show them Gremlins but she put her foot down on that one cause it gave her nightmares as a kid. I thought she was nuts but then I read the synopsis and totally forgot about the scene were Phobe Cates talks about her dad. That would freak my kid out.

Yeah man, Daredevil (Netflix) is super violent. I was even surprised by it. You said he's seen all the Superman movies, even Man of Steel? What about Batman Begins is a no but MoS is a good to go?

I could definitely see Dark Knight being a tough call. That's kinda nuts. That might have given me nightmares as a kid, too.

I saw Pulp Fiction, the Crow, Terminator 2, Schindler's List (unbearable to sit through as a little kid) and many more in the theater with my dad. He really did not give a fuck.

Yeah he'll have to wait till he's a little bit older for those. Man Of Steel was a tough call too. I wasn't sure but it didn't bother him. It will be easier when he is 13 or so unless he asks about some of those torture horror movies I'll say no to those when he's 30.
