I remember back in the late 90s arguing with someone that not only was Pry, To a necessary "intro" to Corduroy but that it made Corduroy superfluous.

How cool would it be to get Pry, To live?

More formulaic? They basically just stopped, right?

What is on that list?

Master/slave
Pry to, bugs, davanita, stupid mop
Lukin???
Red Dot
push/Pull??
Hummus
Soon forget??
Arc
Wasted reprise

That’s kind of it until Be Humble. The little instrumental lead in’s on whoever said and scared of fear I wouldn’t count

Most of these are well done and play a reasonable or justifiable role in their albums. Honestly he only two I struggle to defend are red dot and hummus.

i was thinking just studio

U and Leatherman are just jangly little pop songs. those feel more akin to, say, supersonic than happy when im crying

I'd like to hear a defense of "Stupid Mop" in the context of your denial of its obvious stature as album closer

tragabigzanda wrote:Those are all studio? And I see no relationship between any of those songs and Supersonic. May as well be different bands.
sorry, I meant album, not studio.

and supersonic, ole, leatherman, U - all bright, poppy, disposable and unambitious confectionary moments. this is probably their lane i like the least. you can do it right, but usually the simplicity of the music needs to be in tension with more ambitious and thoughtful lyrics (like SBWM)

I think it’s handy to have around.

U is not disposable either.

i'm not sure it was ever actually there. But once someone tells you it is and then you play it backwards, there it is. and your fandom being what it is, wants it to be there. Mine did at least.

No Way doesn’t have the highs of some of their best songs for me, but I’m always interested to listen to it, I never skip it and I’m always satisfied when it ends.
Time for a stogie.
