Agreed. There's an elemental quality to it. If it were the only book he ever wrote, he would still sit comfortably in the same discussions as a Lovecraft, Poe, etc.
Absolutely. Well said.
The only book to absolutely scare the shit out of me.
Like LEGIT scare the shit out of me.
I slept with the light on after reading Jerusalem's Lot.

Hell yes. I'll never forget. I was reading it one night before bed and it was storming and the wind kept blowing a tree branch and it was pecking my window. Fuck, that was bad.

I live on the 10th floor of an old converted hospital. We've got a tall living room window that looks out at Manhattan. Reading that book and looking up at that window... FUCK. Every time I looked over I was certain I'd see some bald fucking terrifying man hovering outside. It was a nightmare.

That sounds like a cool place to set a book.

UUUUUUMMMMMMM...
One day, a stranger calls to Gwendy: ‘Hey, girl. Come on over here for a bit. We ought to palaver, you and me.’
On a bench in the shade sits a man in black jeans, a black coat, like for a suit, and a white shirt unbuttoned at the top. On his head is a small neat black hat. The time will come when Gwendy has nightmares about that hat…”

Yea, I'm assuming that's the MIB, but as I've never read beyond The Gunslinger, I couldn't be sure.

Man... that's unfortunate. I was hoping to be more excited by our first look at the new film version of IT.

I finished the book the Dead Zone yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I don't remember the movie though I'm pretty sure I've seen it mostly because I got a flash from a scene in the movie towards the end of the book. I used to watch the TV show though that's mostly a blank too but I found myself picturing Anthony Micheal Hall as I read. I can't imagine Christopher Walken though I understand the movie was well revived. I'm not sure I've ever liked a King character more than John Smith. His dad, Sarah, his doctor...I was really fond of them all. Kinda sad it's over.
