ROTJ is the best at mood/atmosphere of all the films.
Opening with the empire and Vader, Jabbas palace, Endor, Luke being taken to the emperor

It has all the whizz pop bang ‘star wars’ stuff too but it works best when it’s dropping you into a vibe and it gives you time to catch up and take it in. Leia releasing Han, beautiful set up. R2 and threepio going to jabbas palace, beautiful setup up. Vader and Luke’s conversation on Endor before they go up, Wicket meeting Leia and making friends and saving her from the scout troopers, beautiful set up and so on.

Paced properly and written that way rather than some of the more haphazard leaving it to the editing to sort it / save it we see elsewhere.

The plot is definitely more coherent than TROS though, In that there is one.

I think ROTJ is my most-watched movie of all time. There was a year sometime in the early 90s where I'd watch the VHS every night for 1-2 week stretches. Comfort food.

It might not be all time most watched film anymore but it's certainly my most watched Star War, still.
