Casas was hurt all year, but the Red Sox have been in the business of service time manipulation as long as anyone.
Yeah, Mickey! :gomez:

Anyone still worried about Casas' defense?

I hate to do phrenology but he totally *looks* home-schooled.

Casas seems be an above average defender and has all the looks of a good hitter. I’m not a big fan of the Joey Gallo style three outcomes hitters, which Casas seems to be right now, though. The last couple days have been more encouraging to me with his approach at the plate.

His chase rate has been elite-level good in the small sample size so far, but he's being so picky on when to swing that he's letting plenty of strikes go by--but a 22% K rate in his first taste of MLB pitching is excellent. He'll hopefully continue to expand his zone a bit more and that'll bring the average up in line where it was in the minors.

His RHP vs. LHP splits are going to be scary for a while, that's like the one thing he's going to have to learn on the job if he wants to be elite.

Casas had 2 more walks tonight, giving him 16 in September, which is the most any Red Sox player has had in a month this year (Story had 15 in may). 16 BB to 17 K so far.

Here are his first two PAs that ended in walks. Both thosw swings look like he's trying to bloop it over the wall in left. If the book on a guy turns into "don't throw him strikes" but he doesn't swing at anything outside the zone, well.

I just don’t want him to become a HR, K, or BB guy, I’m not passing judgement it’s way too early.

This was probably the most miserable experience I've ever had with this team, cant thing of a season worse than this. 2020 had a worse team, but they were tanking and it wasn't a surprise.

And it was a shortened season, right?

We knew this outcome for what, 5 months?

That road trip to Tampa and NY right before the break was when I knew.
