Well, my wife and I are both teachers in the Twin Cities with Masters plus 60 (the only step above is a phd and we won’t be doing that) entering our 27th year teaching so we’re at the top of the pay scale, each making between $105k and $110k. After teaching for 3 years in California, my first year salary teaching in Minnesota in 2003 was $29k. Basically, if you stick with it and get education, it can be a well-paying job about 20 years in. Edit: $105k today has the purchasing power of $58k in 2003 so it took a quarter century for my salary to double.

It’s also lifestyle though. I have a teaching friend more senior than me who never goes anywhere, but he goes out to eat several times a week and often both nights on weekends. I just prefer to eat well at home for 50 weeks to have memorable meals on vacation for two weeks.

Booked a week in Belize after Christmas. Heading inland for a few days, including going to a national park in Guatemala. Then it’s the beach and snorkeling for a few days before returning to the Minnesota winter. Furnace will kick on tonight for the first time this fall. Nice to have something to look forward to now tho.

Furnace? It’s still 80 at 11pm here.

traveling to boston for parents' weekend at my kid's school. right into the teeth of a nor'easter. cubs/red sox play a double header on friday and we're going to at least squeeze in game 1 before the storm. i'm sure things are going to be great.

good luck..we had tix once on mothers day and it was a rain out so we ended up belly to bar having too many at bukowki's...
