hope no one ever mentioned freedom in a speech before, or my political career is fucked.

Consider how much ground could be regained by conservatives pointing out how borrowed the "original" speech is, and yet no effort has been made to demonstrate that.

These political sentiments have been stated and restated and restated and restated and restated. Originality is thinner in this realm than in pop music. But occasionally, plagiarism is still blatant enough to be unavoidably noticed.

In short, Anthony Kiedis is the worst thing to ever happen to any band. Thank you for your time.

Change at least a word, and make it about California. Then yes.

So Trump and Christie want to go full Andrew Jackson and bring back the spoils system. Figures. :shake:

Haven't seen that but it was a great speech.
I didn't expect much from Melania's. She lifted some generic lines but in the end not a big deal. I'm ready for that controversy to be over.

The Trump Jr. thing ended up being a non-story, since the guy who wrote the speech simply re-used a metaphor from an article he had written. But the Melania stuff is just mind-blowing: why not just say "whoops" instead of blaming Clinton for the "controversy"?

It's not a controversy so much as it stupid trolling of Trump. Can you imagine if everything you ever said had to be original from you?

Guys, that was blatant. And its not so much that she didnt have an original thought, or blatantly plagiarized it, its the campaign not taking any accountability for it. Its embarrassing and says a lot about how they would run the country.

She was trashed in the media and on the socials far before the debacle of how they handled it.

I still don't see how anything Michelle said was so unique and original that this needed to be blown up in the media. They both said generic crap that has probably been parroted in some form or another by every politician ever. Nothing to see here.

I am appalled that anyone in this country would consider allowing Trump to be President, and I thoroughly enjoyed laughing at the comparisons of Malania and Michelle's speeches, but really ... three sentences shouldn't be that big of a deal.

this Twitter kerfuffle about that speachwriter has been hilarious to watch. "She's a redheaded 50 year-old." No, that's actually this person. "Wait! She's a blonde 30 year-old!" No, that's a fitness instructor. "Now she's a beautiful sunset!" Are you high right now?
