But of Eddie's biggest (or most cited) musical influences the only one I'm really a fan of is Bruce Springsteen.

im the opposite. I love Neil ( and its not only an ed influence) and i dont care at all about Bruce. Specially modern Bruce.

Mirrorball/ Merkinball is the best PJ Jack Irons project by far.

glad he stayed away from that influence for most of the band's salad years

I don’t think he does his style well. I think Eddie does his best work when he stays away from his influences

When you guys talk about Bruce influence ….what do you have in mind ? A guy who sings and plays guitar?

Do we not love small town and better man and off he goes ?

Interesting - I don't necessarily associate any of those songs with him (and Betterman and Small Town are all timers). Although in retrospect Small Town makes sense.


I was thinking of a certain type of verse structure and storytelling Unemployable and 7Oclock both come to mind in terms of recent songs.

Yes to citing these two songs, but even among that duo there's a huge gap between the final products.

Do you guys think PJ have a heavy album in them? Not a spritzy punky thing or a jammy 70s thing, but a dark, jagged-edged, aggressive, borderline metal album?

What's the closest they ever got to that? Vs?

Vs or Vitalogy is where those were most likely to show up. But they've never really done an album where every song is of a stylistic piece. I guess Ten or Vitalogy are the closest.

How much would you pay for access to a live stream of PJ working on new songs in their studio? Like a live take of SVT.

Ten is in my ears easily the most consistent album from a purely single sonic territory. The riffs, reverb, and tone of that album is pretty singular compared to the rest of their albums which even if moderately consistent in theme at times is always full of very different sounding pieces.
