recommend both in the highest terms, though young adult is so unrelentingly grim

Carrie (1976)
I very much enjoyed watching this, but I'm not sure how well it has aged. Quite a mixed bag of bad acting. The mother felt like a Kristen Wiig character, but also genuinely terrifying at times (hiding behind the door  ). A lot of great, creative camera work, and an all-time great jump scare at the end.

All Quiet on the Western Front
A very well made war movie. Tons of incredible shots and sequences. Story wise it's one bummer after another, but that's kind of the whole point. Two thumbs up.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

As good as the YA Dystopian Fantasy movies have ever gotten.

Her

First rewatch. Wasn’t too crazy about it the first time in 2015, but think I may have been the problem, not the movie. We’ll see.
