Next Tues-Thurs' high/low temps:
-5/-22
-8/-23
-4/-21
At least it'll get up to 1 for Sunday's long run.
Got any advice, dev?

Yeah there is supposed to be a "ground blizzard" here this afternoon.

Still a lot of lower back pain going on. Ugh.

Put a little more speed into this week's runs in an effort to see where I'm at for my marathon goal.
Still not really sure.
Think I'm really toeing the line for a sub-3. Feels slightly less than 50/50.
VDOT says I should be able do my repeats at 5:32, which is really too fast for me now.
But on the other hand, my MP runs have been a breeze.

Pretty insane pace today, for the looks of it R2D. When's your race?

February 23.
Really only 2 weeks left before I should start a taper.

Your pace looks right-on for sub-3.
Is "race day adrenaline" still a thing for someone as experienced as you, r2d? So far, I seem to perform about 10% better in races than my training times would indicate. But that's probably a result of being too conservative in my goal setting/training paces.

I don't exactly know how to answer that. I feel like I've underperformed in my last couple of races.
At the Death March I shit the bed because they sent us the wrong way.
In my last ultra I got altitude sickness and ended up stumbling across the finish line with vomit all over me.
The ultra before that was great and I ran balls out the entire time.
In my last HM, I pretty much did exactly what my training would've indicated and set a PR.

Chicago Kinvaras are pretty. Still dont think I'm quite ready to run yet though.

I don't actually remember what happened to you. I don't think I was frequenting this thread whenever it did. You okay?

I noticed the standard IT band pain on the side of my knee so I stopped for a bit but the real issue seems to be some persistent hip pain, possibly bursitis, at the base of my right hip. It's taking a long time to feel better, probably because I sit at a desk all day and then go home and binge watch Netflix on the couch with my cat.
It's really impacted my mood in a bad way not running.

Took some time off because of injuries, weather, and a cold.
Did two days in a row on the treadmill and my legs are tired AF. I hate getting back into this. I should have been able to do two 7 mile back to back workouts but I fell short. Still, good to get out there and run again, though. Had the gym not had the fucking goddamn heat jacked up into the 80s, I probably could have done more.

Verb, I remember the last time I was running with regularity was the summer before my wedding, and then a brutal tumble on my bicycle the same month that a hurricane wrecked the bayou trails took me out of it. Funny how quickly something can bash your routine. Hope you get back at it soon and give guestT some hell.

guestT, are you running with microspikes or something?
Aren't your roads super icy?

I've worn Nanospikes a few times this month to keep from slipping on fresh ice. Right now the bike path that I run on is about 50% bare concrete/50% packed snow, so it's very runnable.

All of those temperatures are fine, buddy. You just gotta get out there. If the high is minus -4 to -8 just run at that time of day. Those are premium conditions.

Pedicure and 20 minute hot stone massage, bro. The really good places will also rub some raw citrus and exfoliating salt on those calves and it feels fucking divine.
