Re: The Running Thread

Verb, can you ride a stationary bike while you're healing up? That was my go-to before I started running. That and rowing, when I had a gym membership.
I will never in my life get a pedicure. And there's almost no circumstance under which I'd willingly consent to a massage. What else you got?washing machine wrote:Pedicure and 20 minute hot stone massage, bro. The really good places will also rub some raw citrus and exfoliating salt on those calves and it feels fucking divine.durdencommatyler wrote:MY LEGS HURT SO FUCKING BADLY
That floating thing sounds super interesting. I'll definitely look into that.washing machine wrote:Reflexology.
It's like a deep tissue massage but it's not called a massage. Very good for your mind and body. Or you could start floating in a tank, but please do yourself a favor and seek a float spa that utilizes high ceilings and plenty of tub space. The ones that are essentially coffins or pods are, as you would expect, very confining.
Keep stretching and training. You clearly don't know how to rehab it. An IT band should not be this complicated I don't think. Watch youtube videos for new ideas.verb_to_trust wrote:I noticed the standard IT band pain on the side of my knee so I stopped for a bit but the real issue seems to be some persistent hip pain, possibly bursitis, at the base of my right hip. It's taking a long time to feel better, probably because I sit at a desk all day and then go home and binge watch Netflix on the couch with my cat.washing machine wrote:I don't actually remember what happened to you. I don't think I was frequenting this thread whenever it did. You okay?verb_to_trust wrote:Chicago Kinvaras are pretty. Still dont think I'm quite ready to run yet though.
It's really impacted my mood in a bad way not running.
For sure. Again, definitely seek out the right kind of tank. Bonus points if you find a spa with a quiet room for your post-float come down. The one I use has an excellent space with complimentary tea, plenty of books laying around, hour glasses, and great lighting. I look forward ot hanging out in there more than the actual float, TBH.durdencommatyler wrote:That floating thing sounds super interesting. Your recent improvements have been impressive.guestT wrote:I've worn Nanospikes a few times this month to keep from slipping on fresh ice. Aren't your roads super icy?
Marathon on May 5. Hoping to find a 10K or something before then, but pickings are slim around here.run2death wrote:Your recent improvements have been impressive.guestT wrote:I've worn Nanospikes a few times this month to keep from slipping on fresh ice. The way I attack the downhills, I will break your quads and you won't be able to jog the flats anymore ... give me your 2:05 marathoner, let me take him into the (Grand) Canyon and I'll be the first one out.
