Tom?
Sorry, I missed this. I'm staying in the same area, just looking for something a little smaller with more land. I originally bought this house with my brother and sister, and they've both moved out now, so it's bigger than I need and I'm tired of cleaning and heating all that extra space.
You’re going to make a substantial amount of money

I still owe $100,000 on this house, so I'll be looking to break even

That’s a moderate amount of debt. Did you at least get a good price on the purchase?

If I was the guy who got to pick who wins each Oscar, I would've given awards for/to:

Best Picture: The Iron Claw
Director: Andrew Haigh, All of Us Strangers
International Feature: Perfect Days, Japan, dir. Wim Wenders

Acting:
Penelope Cruz, Ferrari
Koji Yakusho, Perfect Days
Jamie Bell, All of Us Strangers
Julianne Moore, May December

Cinematography: Ari Wegner, Eileen

Screenplay:
May December
Monster

And then a special award to a movie that isn't really good at anything in particular -- or even, come to think of it, even that good at all -- but I still want to recognize it in some way for being weird and making odd choices even if many of those choices are ugly and bad: Napoleon

Best Sound: Ferrari, though this may be because I saw it in a special Dolby sound screening or whatever and I can still kind of feel my chest rumbling months later. Probably the peak in-cinema experience of my year

Ferrari's sound design was superb. I wanna see how he made those sounds, knowing Mann he must have built an original car or something.

And yes Cruz should have won the oscar. Her portrait of that woman was outstanding.

To help tide you Oscar heads over in this off season, let's play a trivia game. I got 15. How many did you get correct?

Very good deep-dive into how this plagiarism claim is absolute horseshit (and how alarming it is that many people were content to believe it based on a quick skim through of a deeply dishonest article)

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
