Saw this a few hours ago in my neck of the woods.
Slow start, but after the first 30 mins it really picks up.
K2 is a gun of a droid, his attitude/humour is really quite enjoyable.
Not a load of pandering for fans to the extent of TFA (only a few cameos from a couple of characters here and there).
Quite an enjoyable ride that really escalates to an amazing ending.
I'm in love with Felicity Jones, and want to help her make babies.

Just out from the second viewing. Now it makes sense. And the emotional power came. It doesn't have huge big problems apart from pacing issues (hello reshoots) and trudging repetitive exposition at a few points. it's got a great many smaller problems that sting the scenes they're in. You'll see them. but they're small things Star Wars fans will maybe not see or forgive and certain film fans with an eye or critics will. It has film making problems. It doesn't really have Star wars problems.
Disagree with the above post. There are a bunch of references fans will get. (Watch for the blue milk!) and a certain name gets called at some point. And loads of others.
The end though. Holy fuck. The best Star Wars in all Star Wars.

Well Its not just the reshoots. The scar tissue from trying to splice the original and the reshot material is quite glaring. But further than that the editing stumbles quite a lot, exposing it.
It could well just be it doesn't move or flow like Star Wars I'm used to. Certain Force awakens scenes could have benefitted from being slowed down or having a few extra beats.
This could benefit from certain scenes being trimmed down.
It feels like a much much longer film than Force awakens.

Info about Rebels references. Spoiler free I think but just to be safe:
The Ghost isn’t the only thing from Star Wars Rebels you can spot in Rogue One, but you’ll need to pay attention and look closely for the other Easter Eggs.
In addition to taking part in the battle over Scarif the Ghost can also be seen at the Rebel base on Yavin IV, but there are some other references to Rebels in that base.
If you look very closely and pay attention, you can spot the Rebels’ droid Chopper at the base. Reportedly most of his footage was cut, but if you really look hard you can still spot him there. Also in the base you’ll hear for a “General Syndulla” summoned via the PA system. This happens right after Jyn gives her rousing speech to the Rebellion.
There are also unconfirmed reports that people spotted a Lasat (not necessarily Zeb) in Saw Gerrera’s hideout. Additional viewings of the movie will be needed to confirm if this is true or not.
Rogue One is actually set after the end of Star Wars Rebels, so from the movie we know that Hera ends up becoming a General in the Rebellion much like Han and Lando did and Chopper survives along with her. Right now there doesn’t seem to be any reference for the other Rebels crew outside of Hera, Chopper, and the Ghost itself in Rogue One.
VERY interesting about the Syndulla part, if true. Kind of foreshadows what happens to her in Rebels. Also the Zeb part. Gonna have to watch this several times.

Look to the left of the screen. You'll see and hear Chopper rolling along leftwards. Think he has his arms out flailing and cursing.
It's 100% him
its mostly forgettable and the barest sprinkles of familiar themes here and there almost makes me wish he'd just written his own music entirely. But!!! He's worked a huge bit of magic in one place. The final scene. It's a pretty perfect build up to the declamatory big music you hear when we see the star destroyer bearing down on the blockade runner in a new hope. It's pretty seemless I think..

i just think reshoots is one of those words overly invested with dignificance by people who dont really understand the process of making movies. im sure there are tons of examples where they add extra characterization or allow directors to revisit scenes that dont work as well as they had hoped once the whole film was starting to unfold. just like there are plenty of examples of reshoots being a last ditch effort to save a film that doesnt work. when reshoots are budgeted into a production cycle its hard to infuse them w too much a priori significance.
