Really wasn’t prepared to come across Don Orsillo’s (aka Announcer Boy) tribute post tonight.

Then not prepared to hear about how Wake popped into Cora’s office the day before his surgery and said, “Alex, I’ll be fine.”

Just really not prepared for today.

Chris Martin with the inexplicable 5th place vote for Cy Young was a good time.

My favorite recent "writers are not mature enough for this responsibility" moment was Gammons giving Bronson Arroyo a HOF vote.

Doesn’t get more Boston than this.

Even bigger bigots being grown in the system? Not surprised.

Remind me what the first state to legalize same sex marriage was? While the majority of the country was still going on about sodom and gommorah?

It’s not like Duran is a local kid; he’s from Orange County.

Fun fact: went to the same high school as Troy O’Leary and Scott Aukerman.

Marcelo Mayer did a dugout interview during the game today and revealed he was on the phone with Chase Meidroth when the Crochet deal was happening talking about how they would miss Kyle Teel, and Meidroth said to him “Hey Breslow is calling me” and that’s when Meidroth learned he was part of the trade as well.

I hope that Tampa fan who was chanting “Over-rated!” at Roman Anthony as he was hitting a 430 ft home run has a fun time watching his team play at fucking George Steinbrenner field this year.

I think the Brewers just fleeced you guys. Durbin is a good young player but projects as a utility guy (unless he goes all Turang this year). I’ll take young pitching for that all day. Besides, Milwaukee specializes in developing scrappy utility players. Dime a dozen round there.

Harrison has some good traits and could be good, but the Sox had a surplus of that sort of talent so it’s not that big a deal to send it off for a real need (someone who can play 3B nearly every day even if he bats 8th).

Although I say “had” a surplus because they’ve sent a lot of pitchers off this offseason. They traded Sandlin, Dobbins, Fajardo, Perales (!!!), Fitz, and Clarke, all guys who could’ve had a future with the team (although some still had a good amount of development left), and they lost Paez to Rule 5 too. The got some pitchers back and signed some guys, but they haven’t really replaced the youth of those players, and that is going to be felt a few years down the line.

It’s crazy how bold Breslow has been with trades and then they’ve signed exactly one major league free agent. Obviously he’s been instructed to control the budget and try to win at the same time. They are going to have to thread a needle to size of a fucking atom to be successful with that strategy when other teams are committing to established players long-term. I am still excited for baseball to be back and everything that goes with it, but obviously I have thoughts.

All of the players they got back for Devers are gone in less than a year. That is fucking wild.

Okay maybe fleeced was harsh, I forgot that teams like Boston just have young, former top prospect lefties laying around no biggie. But from a small market perspective, getting that potential is huge.

Trade won from Brewers fan perspective.

Trade meh whatevs from spoiled Red Sox fan perspective.
