And there will be a ballad called Something Special. There will be some fast songs, some slow songs, and songs in between. It will be like Earthling you will see.

I'm feeling quite optimistic about this album - Dark Matter and Running have not given me reason not to be. And the first couple singles are rarely album favorites for me...

Watt has he done with Matt's drum sound? Especially that snare.

I came for the flaming, bushy vagina, but I stayed for the friends I made along the way that discuss flaming, bushy vaginas

With the Dark Matter screening in theaters I wonder if they made visuals for every song and those are also the visuals that will be shown when performing the songs in concert. Stone was talking about new production at their shows and I bet it will involve similar things to what will be shown in theater.
Didn't he also talk about them wanting to play a lot of the album at concerts? Maybe there will be a "fixed" part of the concerts this time with the same songs being played and with visuals in the background.

Release_Me wrote:That has pretty much been the formula for PJ over the years. A mix of hard and soft songs, if you will. The difference this time is that they've hyped Dark Matter being "heaviest since xxx" or "heavier than you'd think" so the guy probably went in thinking, this album will be just chock full of hard rocking songs and was surprised that there were softer songs on the record. This is how I see it.

Anyway, I have always loved good ballads and mid-tempo anthems, so I am looking forward to 100% of the album that I haven't heard. I like Running and also Dark Matter, the latter a bit more. Only the clip of Something Special has me (slightly) worried. Everything else, I am really looking forward to.
I'd actually prefer an album of nothing but mid-tempo stuff. I think current Pearl Jam is better at that than hard rock.
Absolutely. Which probably at least partly explains why Gigaton is my favorite Pearl Jam album since Yield. Seven O'Clock/Dance/Who Ever Said (this one maybe isnt quite "mid tempo") are in my absolute sweet spot for the band these days.

This is nothing new though. I've had issues with his drum sound since Avocado (Binaural and Riot Act drums sound good).

Sure, but this problem in particular on DM - is something new. Doesnt even sound like a drum set or matt cameron.

It seems the crowd at yesterday's London Listening party were chosen specifically for their inability to articulate or string together anything that resembles a coherent description of the music they were so lucky to listen to.
“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.”
― Charles Bukowski
