I actually wish they'd called this "The Lightning Bolt." That's what I'm calling it from now on: "Have you heard the lightning bolt yet?"

Right enough, where is the Pitchfork review? I was looking forward to a good laugh.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
Day 2:
I like each of these songs more than I did last night.
I like the rushed lyrics on Getaway ("And if you wanna have to pray")
Jeff's bass slide as the vocals kick in on MYM is filthy.
The slide guitary things in Sirens sound like trains passing by, heightening the sense I get of the narrator sitting in some warehouse in a dodgy part of town.
Ed sounds like a slightly pervy uncle imparting tipsy wisdom to his nephew in Lightning Bolt. I like it.
Pendulum has soared right into the top 3 tracks of this album for me.
Yellow Moon is still dull, though I like Eddie's vocal on "Engraved", "Gray" and "Fades".
I really don't remember Backspacer, S/T or Riot Act getting better each time I listened past the first couple of runs.

An early interview says that he did, but it's obviously not on the eventual thing. That's annoying.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
Yeah he's a pretty unique songwriter that's brought a lot to PJ and SG albums, I think this is the only album by either bands that he hasn't had writing credits on!!

He gave em all to soundgarden. The cool band.
I bet bob hates all of matts songs. "I can't put keyboards on this"
And that drawing looks like Dave the hairy biker.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
He does some playing around with the other songs though, so that's alright. The off-kilter intro to MYM, and the nice time-signature of YM. I'm a bit worried that if BoB's on board, Matt's songs will keep getting turned into The Fixer. For all that that song was fun, I don't want another one.
