Chord heavy but not all heavy chords"

welp,
Asking these folks to describe the music they heard seems to be as difficult as asking them to explain quantum physics...

Yeah it's like not even a drum kit as someone said, super pro tools...just listen to Sleight of Hand ffs.

Dog shit song, PJ always great at bridges and it semi saves the song but luckily its only 2 minutes long. Hopefully its like Supersonic, a single but never played.

I have 0 time for shit EV punk songs like johnny guitar, comatose etc.

the snare (and the whole drum kit) is drenched in special effects on Sleight of Hand

EV did not write the music for Johnny Guitar or Comatose.

those are beautiful production choices that add a vibe/element to that type of song. Still sounds like matt cameron playing drums. I love it.

These drums on the other hand are stripped of any vibe and character. So, i think its a bit different. Producing/adding effects doesnt automatically mean its shit production or over produced. otr wahtever whatever.

Running is a Jeff song.
That's pretty disappointing
Jeff usually brings some of the more interesting PJ songs

they don't sound "natural" either, was my point; if I was going to yearn for a more organic acoustic drum sound, that's not a song I'd pick; "yeah but it's nicer" isn't really an effective counter-point

Effects or no effects, sounds good unlike this mix.

it would sound a lot better without being washed in reverb, but yeah, it's a better song in every way

yeah, but i think he wrote the intro, which is the best part along with the bridge.

I listen to so many tiny math rock bands with 200 followers and their studio production is 9000 trillion times better than any of Pj's last few records, don't get it. No character, texture, warmth or anything in them, all sounds like it was made in a macbook...oh wait.

Agreed
The intro and the bridge are the best parts of the song
I love the interplay between Mike and Stone on the bridge...One of them is playing some very cool weird & chords while the other is banging away straight power chords
Looking forward to getting home today and trying to figure this one out on guitar
