Her.
Felt a little longer than it's two hour running time but I liked it. Not really a Joaquin Phoenix fan but he did a good job and thought he should have gotten more attention for the role than he did.

It was kind of falling apart in the last 40 minutes, but yeah, that ending...Jesus Christ. Yikes.

Frankenheimer is a frustrating director. The premises/scripts for his movies always seem great, but for every movie after The Manchurian Candidate he never seemed to be able to pull it off. Pretty much all of his movies should have been better than they were.

Insidious.
Someone told me this was really scary. What an awful Poltergeist ripoff.

I wouldn't have said 'Really scary' by any stretch, but I quite enjoyed it

Watched What We Do In The Shadows last night. Haven't laughed that much watching a film in a long time.

So I watched Junior last night.
If you've never seen it, go and watch it immediately.
Holy fuck.
My life will never be the same.

Spike's Oldboy. one of the worst flicks i have seen in a long time.
and yes, i'm comparing it to the original. i liked the original, a lot. i love foreign films...the overacting, the token silly bad guy even in the most serious of movies, the all around camp. this remake was just bad. these things just didn't work for me in the remake. the hammer scene was just so dull. blah, blah, blah.

That was a truly terrible movie; I don't know what Spike was thinking.
I would be curious to see his original cut, though.

I know! That was one of the most confusing things about it; Copley has been
great in every performance before this. But this was pure moustache-twirling nonsense.
I just don't understand the thinking behind any part of this project.

Gladly.
I was being somewhat facetious, of course. But man, that is one of the most mind-bogglingly strange, inexplicable movies I've ever seen. There's nothing else like it. And not even in terms of its high-concept conceit, but in terms of every minor creative decision within every scene. I assume it's supposed to be a comedy, but it really doesn't play that way; it feels like a drama that isn't aware of its own insanity.
And it is INSANE. That baby-Arnold scene felt like a hallucination; I was like, "Am I actually seeing what I think I'm seeing right now?" And the drag montage is goddamn otherworldly.

Oh, I went to The Rover last night. It was dumb. Basically just an empty mash-up of The Proposition and The Road.
