Jorge wrote:Watched 65. Mixed feelings. The film falls squarely on the shoulders of the two leads, and the fact that they did such a great job is what saves this mess of tired tropes and plasticky CGI dinosaurs. I liked it, overall, and especially enjoyed some of the more ridiculous moments towards the end, but this would've failed completely with a different set of actors.

I was entertained, about at the level of The Babadook I thought, maybe slightly more fun, but not scary at all.

The Vanishing (2018). Other than the jittery camera work and uneven editing, it's pretty good so far. Interesting premise.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The original Danish film (late 80s) is legendary, did you know about this? You should check it out sometime
I did not. Maybe I will.

tree, pause the 2018 version and go watch the original. Return to the remake after you see the original. Seriously!

But I'm already almost done with this one. What's the original called? Is it free on Amazon like this one to stream? probably not

So I looked into it and it turns out that's a completely different story. This is about three lighthouse keepers. 88 vanishing does look good though. I think I remember hearing celebs I like talking about it in podcasts.. I'm thinking either Tarantino or C.K.

Watching John Wick for the second time ever. Not seen any of the sequels.

After this I’ve got 20 movies left from 2014, 10 I’ve seen before, and 10 I’ve never seen.

It's killing me that I can't remember in what podcast I heard all about this movie. It's almost like I'd seen it before, the way they described it in such detail.

John Wick is a cool movie. Proper old school action, with a modern look and feel.
