Final 30 minutes coming up now.

This movie’s got incredible acting, a unique atmosphere, and a compelling story on several levels, especially Keaton’s role. We get to share in his inner thoughts, coming to terms with his situation, dreaming of regaining his prominence, and wondering about the meaning of life, while also directing and starring in a Broadway show, dealing with critics, his daughter and the other actors. Add to that the fantastic elements, and the way the movie is shot, and you got a stone cold classic.

Finished it, still my number one movie of 2014.

Now I’ve only got six 2014 movies left, not seen any of them before.

1. Calvary
2. Love & Mercy
3. St. Vincent
4. Love, Rosie
5. Wild
6. The Skeleton Twins

Do hope and think I will enjoy them, but not sure if any will reach the top ten of the year. We shall see.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Love and Mercy is pretty good, trag, in unexpected ways. Hard to make an interesting biopic but they went and dun it. I think you would like it.

I've read three different books on Brian and the Wilsons, so I really should've watched it by now. John Cusack looks weird in the promo stills.
He's weird but it works. And this is the role that made me really respect Paul Dano.

Think this movie is really captivating, putting images to a story I am well familiar with, yet also illuminating aspects I was not aware of. Like someone else wrote: «The rise and fall and rise and fall and rise of Brian Wilson.»

The casting of Brian Wilson is both brilliant and a little jarring at the same time, with actors known for wildly different parts. The rest of the cast is fine, even if less brilliant and inspired.
Think Elizabeth Banks does especially well.

Giamatti is always brilliant, but felt he perhaps was a little over the top here, with his odd hairpiece and dictatorial behaviour. Certainly paints red all over the movie.

Dr. Landy was a pretty weird/intense dude, FWIW
I’m not surprised to hear that after watching the movie. Will be interesting to read your take on it.

Creed III is the worst one.

The Skeleton Twins had some good moments, and I do love Bill Hader. Overall though, it failed to fully engage me. It was sort of serious, then a little funny, then dark, just a bit uneven.

Watching Love, Rosie. Like this a little bit better. Lily Collins is just magical, steals every scene.
