You’re so right- listening to good old ordinary version on Amazon Music and it’s way clearer than Spotify! The tings of the cymbals, the guitar tones, the silence between notes- it also helps that I busted out the Sennheisers I suppose :D

Don't have Amazon, but Apple Music has an Apple Digital Master, Lossless.

Apple Music has Dolby Atmos as well.

Mrs Mills is lovely. Melodically a bit like Father and Son by Cat Stevens but still a masterclass in lyric writing and arrangement.

Good and Evil is like a less shit version of Can’t deny me.

Nothing to dislike here despite my previously mean opinion on the Long way. Least favourite part of the album would be Invincible and in particular the first minute or so. Cosmonaut Vedder? Foxtrot Oscar…

Loving it, he sounds so happy but that last minute and a half of my Brother the Cloud is viciously and graciously correct. Sublime. The words of a man of wisdom and integrity. That dirty guitar part needed to be tuned down a peg and sent home by Mike losing his shit..

The diversity of sound on this album is so much fun and maybe it’s greatest achievement for somebody so pigeon holed by many.

Parting Ways

Soon Forget

Jeremy
Grievance
Mrs Mills
Evacuation
Long Way
Hahaha! This is my favorite troll job. Reminds me of a time when my friends and I would karaoke and take over the set list with alternating super happy and utterly sad songs. Fat Bottomed Girls followed by Eleanor Rigby.

I still support this stance. Unless the next album proves to finally be a successful example of the merging of those two things.

I do enjoy the album, but likely not as much as a lot of the others here. I'm curious to know how this one will age. I just don't think there's enough meat on the bone in a lot of these songs that will draw me back to them, especially the shorter rockers.

I've also come to realize what everyone in PJ says is true - the whole of PJ is greater than the sum of its parts. I think this is clearly evident given everyone's solo work. I do enjoy a lot of the songs, especially Long Way, the Dark, and Fallout Today, but I'm not sure how much I'll actively seek this album out in the future.

the growl that eddie lets creep into his voice on ‘lets lift it up’ on Invincible is so good. i know i am preaching to an occasionally wayward choir, but when he is on there isn’t anything better

The Haves has improved steadily since I first heard it. It is a gorgeous piece of music. Some of the chordal changes are quite moving, especially the transition from pre-chorus to chorus. The way they blend the pre-chorus into the 2nd verse is sooo good. Lyrics/Vocals are not great but the story of the homeless couple Ed observed in L.A.(?) that inspired the song helped put the lyrics into a nice context.

I like the little instrumental before the big screeching guitars on long way, at about 230, is that Ed?

We got the heavens, we got the earth
And in between we got big surf

This might be my favourite EV lyric, ever. Really feeling it.

The chatter above has persuaded me to try listening through Amazon, just to see if my non-audiophile ears notice any differences.

knowing the backstory helps. Springsteen really raved about it in that interview. It has upgraded itself from terrible to okay. Still not feeling it, but hating it less.

Long Way is the song that has probably improved the most for me based on what we've seen.

Pearl Jam walked so Eddie Vedder and the Earthlings could run.

Mike will be great on these . Matt will be better on a few not as good on many
Was thinking the same thing. Will be interesting at least to hear a couple.
