My shit was shufflin' and on came Matthew Sweet's "We're the Same" from 100% Fun. The production/mixing on that is fucking perfect. The separation of the guitars and the up-front sound of the drums... all done by BOB himself. Looked it up on Wikipedia and he plays all over it as well.

Hey trag if you're reading this, have you heard this album? If so, do you agree it's BOB at his best?

That album sounds awesome, but I wouldn't call it BOB's best (I'd say that's Evil Empire or VS). It has a natural, open, airy vibe to it that is awesome, but tons of engineers/producers could get the same sounds.

And I should dig that album out! Haven't listened in quite a while.
Yeah, that track and "Sick of Myself" are worth it alone.

I mean, I'm not giving up Fuller House or my Beach Boys records anytime soon or anything, but yeah happy to join the ranks of heathens like you.

"Roots Bloody Roots" is one of the greatest songs of all time, but I don't love the whole album.

Belle and Sebastian's If You're Feeling Sinister is probably my favorite from that year. There are many great albums for me but not particularly more than the years that surround it.

Yep. '96 was loaded. I always think of 1997 as the most epochal of my formative years for music, but when I look at LV's list I realize that a lot of what I consumed in '97 was actually released in 1996.

I enjoyed Lorde“s new album despite the horrible production.

Please enough of those pop producers.

I always thought that I disliked QOTSA, most of what I'd heard from them would leave me pretty indifferent but I listened to their debut today and thought it was really good.
