Interesting that Pearl Jam stopped working with him right around the time all of this was going down - and instead brought in a former Soundgarden crew member.
oh wow. yeah, that's some choosy kids choose gif shit right there.
my guess is that it wasn't just the 'you need to use BOB' but the broader 'she is already sticking her nose in everything and will want to control everything' that was the problem

again for all we know BOB, who was in the process of selling his royalty rights, might have needed to sit the PJ album out. PJ did use some tracks from his sessions, but seem to remain mum on that aspect. maybe they didn't want to confuse 'ownership' in light of the pending sale

It seems implicit in that scenario however that O'Brien was willing to go along with Vicky's plan, which (if true) can't have gone down very well with the band, particularly Matt.

It's not clear yet if they used anything recorded with O'Brien on the new record. Retrograde's been reported as a song which was worked on in those abandoned sessions but they could easily have recorded a new version with Evans.

If the assumption is true, then Matt has a strong upper hand in the Matt vs Jack drummer debate. Bc if Matt was able to get rid of BoB, then that’s a fuggin’ power move that can’t go ignored.

I wonder of brendan being that producer is the reason why he is out from the new album.
Ed and Matt hate vicky for sure. Jeff thanked her when he won that grammy but im sure it was just for being polite.

das may be true, but what incentive does BOB have to go 'all in' on vicky's side? he must have known the soundgarden people longer and why would he risk drawing a line in the sand to 'stand with vicky' ... she must have miscommunicated - i doubt she explained to BOB that this was an ultimatum

yes i guess i jumped to that conclusion, but BOB was so balls deep in PJ's work for all those years i didn't seem like a stretch to think it was really from his session and then he was off the project and they had Evans re-work it

Yeah I found that very hard to believe that BO'B would be an obstruction in all of this. I think BO'B was pulled in by this aswell. He's probably on very good terms with both the members of PJ and SG. It's seems that they were not working with him on this album yet, maybe it was self-produced and they were still deciding on a mixer. Adam Kasper seems to be the most likely choice for that since he was involved in most of their bandprojects. But maybe BO'B was also in the picture here. Either way Im pretty sure BO'B would never be obstructing the bandmembers. Vicky just dragged him into this.

Josh Evans is mentioned, perhaps he was meant to be producing the album.

He is mentioned as an audio-engineer. Both Adam Kasper and BO'B are mentioned as producers on the list. Oh and btw both are fact witnesses in the band's case.

Vicky....what are you doing.......This is all soo sad...She will loose this trail 99%.

And then there's also this....:
Since Cornell’s death, the Surviving Band Members have not played together as Soundgarden, except for one performance on January 16, 2019, at a concert entitled “I Am the Highway: A Tribute toChris Cornell” at the Forum inLos Angeles. The concert—which was performed without compensation by the Surviving Band Members, and many other musicians and celebrities—was intended to benefit The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation(“Cornell Foundation”), a California nonprofit corporation
It is unclear the fate of this revenue intended by the band, and promised by Vicky Cornell, to be used for charitable purposes. The Cornell Foundation appears not to have publicly released a Form 990 detailing its financial position since 2017. https://www2.guidestar.org/profile/46-1543070. Further, as of the date of this filing, the Cornell Foundation’s website appears not to have been updated since 2017. https://chrisandvickycornellfoundation.org/Case
So...there was a CC tribute. All proceeds went to their foundation....But Vicky has not detailed any finances from that same foundation......

Not to kick a dead man, but kinda makes me question Chris for marrying someone of this moral character

isn't that what tripped up the Trump Foundation?

I don’t see the SG guys ever using Brendan for an album with or without Chris. Sure Chris used him on his last solo album but he’s not the guy for SG.

The should take a page out of Snot's playbook (yeah, I hear you saying "WTF is that?") and do a Strait Up release. Matt and Ben can both sing on a song - they've got the experience - and then bring in some other contemporary musicians and others who were influenced by Chris. Hell, even his brother could sing on a song, he's got a pretty good voice as well.

I'm only like 25% serious here.
