He does. And the guitars on Infallible are so much better and dirtier live than on the album. Not sure why they went with a synth/poppy sound on LB.

What was wrong with that? PJ play by their own rules, and that's how the fans like it? He's right, no?

They only like it when it lines up with what they want most the time.

This is the part where dime complains about certain fans not liking the new stuff and having the nerve to say it.

Oh I see... yeah, that's true as well. So what you're both (?) saying is that he's wrong: most fans would rather they worked by "my" rules.

According to your best post-2000 list, your "new stuff" is everything post-Binaural, amirite?

No, I like Riot Act very much as a whole but as far individual songs go I prefer almost everything on Binaural. I could have put Can't Keep instead of Light Years on second thought.

Yeah. I'm just sayin', maybe the only thing some fans don't "have the nerve" to say is that they're not a fan anymore and haven't been for ages?

I don't call myself a fan but I don't see why those who still do regardless of whether they liked the last few albums should just"shut up" because dime is offended by negative opinions.

Well I wasn't the one who said they shouldn't say it, but there are ways to not sound like an idiot on both sides. There are people who find it too enjoyable to shit on songs that other people enjoy publicly just for the reaction. There are also people who love the songs and try to brow-beat others into believing they're good. Neither side has objective judgement on their side, and both sides should credit the other side with more intelligence.

Or something.

And I don't think anyone's liking any of the songs due to a lack of nerve.

I think he meant certain fans give the band more shit than they deserve but i could be wrong.

I didn't say so. Or at least that's not what I meant to say. I meant the nerve to express their opinion, not the nerve to have said opinion.

OK... well, yeah. I might've been one of those fans reacting badly to the negativity from some (including yourself) but I was just getting annoyed at the fact that judgements were being made about an album we hadn't heard in its entirety yet. Now we have, I'm enjoying the debate a lot more. Most people have good reasons for feeling the way they do, and don't mind unpacking them. It just annoys me when people throw unsupported phrases like "it sucks" out there. People who like the stuff also don't support their opinion sometimes, so I can see myself being called a hypocrite, but this is... kind of... a fan forum.

Oh I see... yeah, that's true as well. So what you're both (?) saying is that he's wrong: most fans would rather they worked by "my" rules.
I'm not saying anything really I suppose. I just think people only consider the idea of "pearl jam matches to their own drummer" positively when the subsequent results (music, tour, ect.) tickle their fancies. Look at how much of a ruckus the Target thing stirred.

Yup. I don't care about that anymore but I did at the time. The only bad thing about that debacle, really, was The Fixer video.

And also, the fact that a lot of people disliked Backspacer made the Target deal even harder to stomach.
