I remember when that album was new, damnit, and most people don't even know it exists now. I'm still waiting for them to top it.chewm wrote:I always thought that I disliked QOTSA, most of what I'd heard from them would leave me pretty indifferent but I listened to their debut today and thought it was really good.

Thinking about how amazing Slint Spiderland is. A million bands owe them a huge debt. None ever equalled that record though they tried.

Pearl jam were never cool. And never tried to be.
Fell on black days? Soundgarden? That was a cool fuckin song. That was QOTSA long before QOTSA was even an idea in Josh's head. He was probably still flipping burgers at the time.
Do the evolution approaches cool. It's too earnest and preachy almost though to be cool. There's nothin effortless about it like fell on black days has.
Just a thought

1. What Jorge said.
2. BUT since you wanna talk about it... Okay, fine. I probably like Queens of the Stone Age more than Soundgarden. Soundgarden might have the "best" single album between the two. But based on what I've heard from each, I have no problem with anyone liking QOTSA more. I don't think that's ridiculous.

Only a select few things give me more joy than listening to Who records, tracking which currently-lead instrument Keith Moon is trying to play over.

That's not true. The king animal thing was totally lost on me and still is. Superunkown and DOTUS are both incredible records. Everything previous to those is a little too metal for me.

This is beautiful
http://www.stereogum.com/1947840/nickel ... -the-beef/
It all started when Kroeger claimed that his band, Nickelback, makes extremely diverse music. “I can’t think of another band that’s as diverse as we are. I can’t. And I don’t think that’s me talking from pride or ego,” he said, which led the interviewer to bring up Stone Sour as a point of comparison. Kroeger then said that Stone Sour sounds like “Nickelback Lite” and that Taylor has said some “really nasty things” about him in the press. (In a 2002 interview, Taylor called Nickelback “fucking pretty boys” and referred to Kroeger as “Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.”)
