Yes. Still have some contact with him on twitter/letterboxd, so it’s not like he’s fully gone, but I did enjoy his presence on RM.

Class Action Park documentary on HBO.

"Action Park felt in some ways like a strange social experiment; what happens when you take a bunch of riled up teenagers, a bunch of alcohol, a bunch of dangerous rides, and you put them into a place where there are no rules?"

I'm dying. I had no idea this place existed. Fucking New Jersey, man.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Just finished Woodstock '99. I'm a little confused what the takeaway should be for me... keep maintaining my habit of staying away from large crowds of people?

The Outlaw King

Another enjoyable historical epic from Netflix (the other being The King) I don't usually bother with Netflix movies but they were both pretty dang good.

For some reason I feel compelled to watch AI tonight. I remember not particularly liking it when it came out, but I was 16.

Any thoughts? Is it worth the 2 1/2 hours?

It's good, but not necessarily "entertaining". Feels like a Kubrick movie, because it basically is. He was going to make it and had lots of detailed plans for it and Spielberg picked up the mantle and put his stank on it. Just imagine it's a Kubrick movie and it smells better.

It does not feel like a Kubrick movie to me at all, at least in terms of craft. It looks and feels like pure Spielberg.

It's a gorgeous movie (visually) but truthfully I don't really like it

I agree about the craft; Spielberg stank for sure. But what I mean is imagine the movie done in Kubrick's style. It helps me.

I know the Kubrick connection, but I'm with Jorge in that it never felt at all Kubrick-ian to me

What I meant is all the ideas of the movie, the questions it raises, the plot. I like to watch it and think how Kubrick would have executed it differently.
