A friend of mine also attended this event.
Unfortunately he passed out in a puddle of vomit somewhere around the 2nd verse of "Scared of Fear"
He said the evening was overall a bit of a blur...however does seem to recall there being some guitars, drums & bass on a few of the songs as well as a bit of singing too.
He couldn't quite pin point any other album that Dark Matter sounds like, but he did mention that if you're a fan of songs like Sweet Lew, Turning Mist & Obey the Law of the Heart...you're probably not going to like this album very much.

Despite the London crew's inability to provide any coherent analysis of the songs, I think one fair takeaway is that their general reaction has been fairly lukewarm. I don't even know if that means much since these guys don't seem like the brightest bunch of people but it is interesting that we're not getting the "fanboy" reaction that I thought we would.

Green Disease is punk if we're saying something like Supersonic is
GD is 1) less punk than the aforementioned tunes and 2) a bad track.
Supersonic only qualifies based on BPM of intro and outro. Otherwise I would not consider it a punk song. More like a spritzy quick rocker. Nice bridge. Forgettable though.
But hey….all subjective anyway…

I think there's a tendency to call any fast PJ song under 2:30 punk. Punk is one of those elusive terms that even so-called punks can't even adequately define. Everyone sort of knows what it means. Didn't Kurt basically say punk is whatever you want it to be?

I would argue Pearl Jam has only four five-star songs since Binaural so how can one better understand this 3-star song up to a five-star song? Suggestions welcome! Ha

It's very catchy for me actually, growing a bit, it's nice that it's 2 minutes and not EV sat in front of a B3 for 6 minutes.

In my opinion, what the feedback from the listening party shows is that the harder rocking songs have immediacy and leave an impression on first listen. The mid-tempo ones are probably growers that start slow & build and not likely to stay etched in the memory on first listen unless someone is really listening closely with the intention of noting every intricate detail.

My main takeaway from the listening party impressions so far is that Brits held their liquor much better back when I was there in 2000 than they apparently do now.
I'm not a frequent heavy partier/drinker anymore, but, man alive, two shots and you lose all auditory and critical mental function??
I've got a neurological/physical disability, ffs, and, I'd at least be able to tell you what a song sounded like after a night of drinking...christ
