I haven't listened to the whole thing, but I like the title track much better than anything on Earthling.
It feels intimate, understated, and simply (and surprisingly) really enjoyable.
I still can't relate at all to the board's reception to this new record. I wasn't gaga for Gigaton, but I can recognise it's a substantial improvement in many respects, even if the songs (with a few exceptions) aren't entirely what I want from the band. This albums is legitimately awful however; it sounds bad and the songs are bad. I don't get it, but obviously it's really working for some of you.

Finally listened to the apple music interview - loved listening to Watt talk about the experience. I'm excited for him to be involved with the next record

I need to take a brief break from this album and cleanse my palate with something different. I don’t remember who mentioned Spoon some 50 pages ago, but whoever it was, thank you. I had never heard them before, and the new Lucifer on the Sofa is excellent.

Try and I Can’t Get Behind That by William Shatner (lol) scratch a similar itch for me: fun and frenetic performances by weird player combos that you might otherwise have proposed while high.

That kind of loud, brash rock n' roll and its aesthetic - leather jackets, hot rods, beer, beards, etc - is something I find really difficult to find common ground with, so maybe that figures.Strat wrote:Supersuckers popped up on my drive today.

“Resurrection to the big old bang” “you are a whisper and a scream” and “we got big surf” rank among my favorite vocal deliveries ever from Ed. The guitars and keys mimicking the Crossroads demo is the most nostalgic thing anyone in the band has ever done. Invincible is absolutely top tier.
