Teo looks like a two-down MLB to me, which in a lot of systems nowadays makes you basically a one-down LB. I'd much rather have someone like Ogletree who is very fast and can stay on the field in coverage. Teo would have been a more coveted player 5-10 years ago. That being said, instincts can make up for speed a lot of the time.

Also, why is no one talking about the player that will benefit the most from Chip Kelly being in Philly: LeSean McCoy? He's one of the better stretch zone runners in the game and that's pretty much entirely what Kelly's offense is predicated on. He could be absolutely stupendous in that offense.

Good point. I wonder if Kelly tries to get LeGarrette Blount from the Bucs as a backup, now that Doug Martin's clearly the man there. Or maybe Kelly knows how much of a knucklehead he is from his time in Oregon...

Falcons released, Dunta Robinson, John Abraham and Michael Turner.

I've got no gripes with Robinson, he played his tail off here, he just never quite fit. Threw his body around but he wasn't a good enough corner with almost zero pass rush. He's a great fit at nickel and he was vastly overpaid for that here. But he's perfect for that role now.

I don't know what the hell they are thinking releasing Abraham unless they are about to go HUGE in Free Agency and the draft with DE's. Or change the defense to a 3-4 in one year. In which case they are about to sign the fuck out of some linebackers.

For all the good Dimitroff has done, he's been absolutely horrible at finding rushers. Abraham was fantastic for the money they paid him and his age. He could go one more year for someone in spot duty I'm sure and still get 10 sacks. He's been doing that on a team with absolutely no help.

Michael Turner, is on the short list of best free agent signings in NFL history, he's just old now.

However, I'm in total agreement with you on John Abraham. I get that he's old as well, but now they have Kroy Biermann and...no one?...at DE. I get that they cleared more than $18 million in cap space from all these cuts, but they better go out and spend that money because the Falcons just got weaker.

Remember that this was the year of the Eli/Big Ben/Rivers draft. The most horrifying what-if that I can think of is the Chargers trading Drew Brees and the #1 overall to the Colts for Peyton. I have to wash out that thought with the brighter idea that the Broncos could have used that extra high 2nd rounder they got from the Portis-Bailey trade that year as ammunition to do a Ricky Williams-style trade for Manning. Aside from DJ Williams the 2004 draft sucked for the Broncos anyway.

EDIT: Actually, forget the Chargers--Archie "Papa Bear" Manning didn't want Eli to play there, so I assume the same would hold true for Peyton.

I'm fairly certain they are going either outside linebacker or defensive end with the first two draft picks unless someone really good falls at Offensive Tackle. It's almost impossible for them to go TE in the first round unless they are very active in free agency.

Don't forget Darren Sproles. It was so delicious when Brees broke that TD record by targeting Sproles.

The Broncos are picking 28th, so I can't really dream about getting any obvious superstar at this point. Elam would be OK, but I'm afraid that he plays a bit out of control and will pick up stupid penalties and tackle poorly as a result. If they're going to draft a safety, I'd like Vaccaro out of Texas. However, I just want somebody to challenege Rahim Moore in training camp. That could be Quinton Carter, who is already on the roster, or a reasonable free agent. With the first rounder I'd rather like a MLB or DT.

Stupid Penalties, Poor Tackling - That's what 96% of the NFL?

It's probably because I covered him since high school, but I really like Kevin Minter in the ILB role, even if he's a little slow. I just think Elam is a playmaker, but 4/5 probably knows him a lot better than I do. For instance, if you asked me about Baccari Rambo, much of my opinion is negative. (see stupid penalties, poor tackling, dumb behavior etc)

I like Minter as well--he's probably my favored MLB pick for the Broncos, assuming that Te'o will be long gone by #28.
