Relatedly, on the topic of military aid in WWII, we extracted some significant territorial concessions from the Brits in exchange for some crappy destroyers. Did his admin try to extract anything in exchange for aid to the Soviets? Was that more about timing (most aid provided after we joined the war vs British deal when we were still technically neutral) or about his love affair with Uncle Joe?

I've been thinking that the current political environment can be traced back to two people: Bill Clinton and Rush Limbaugh. They represented a new breed of political discourse, separate from what came before. The division really started there.

Arguably Rush's legacy on the media has lasted much longer than Newt's neoconservatism. One can even trace Jon Stewart and his clones back to him, not to mention the sorry state of cable news. Both sides have become completely reactive, rather than putting forward a positive program (which Newt and co. did.)

Its a Trump and AOC cosplay, surely. Trump wins the election and his natural charisma and charm oozes uncontrollably over the political landscape. Melania is finally able to live in wealth, privacy and happiness with her own all-male Secret Service Team for company. The US once again sits atop the world as the true heroic leader of all nations. MAGA indeed.
