That’s good to hear.
I would have expected the usual empty calorie bullshit. “I’m the best because I’m experienced.” “I’m the best because I’m an outsider.” “I’m the best because there’s too much spending.” Etc.

their abortion discussion was too unsettling

Lol they all raised their hand saying they would support trump - including Christie - if he was convicted and still the party nominee.
Entire crowd cheered.
What a clown show. None of this matters.

Yeah, I gotta thank you numbers, because I ended up switching it on and it was something.
The biggest take away for me was that while some people up on that stage were running for president, Vivek Ramaswamy understands that Donald Trump is the nominee and tonight he was directly running to be his vice president.

Trump is not in good health. Nowhere near as bad as Biden, but the stress of the trials hasn’t even begun yet. One of those folks is the red team’s Gavin Newsom.

I get it, but one of these nitwits is gonna be the red team VP nom. Which means should 80-something Trump (who is suffering from heart issues) get elected, not likely but possible, Vivek might be next in line. We don't need CNN or anyone else giving him ammo in his campaign to be Trump's running mate.
Post debate, I am unswayed. It's like choosing which of my fingernails I'd like to have ripped out. None of them will relieve my misery by any measurable amount.

Pence would support him if he was convicted of trying to get him killed. What a shit show.

Because it's time to finally put an old white guy with no ideas in the White House.

haha
i would say it’s amazing that trump will get the nomination except that based on the state of the general US population that I have interacted with post- March 2020 I am not surprised and simply glad that I have planted so many arborvitae in my yard so as to progressively block out the outside world

Trump is not in good health. Nowhere near as bad as Biden, but the stress of the trials hasn’t even begun yet. One of those folks is the red team’s Gavin Newsom.
Except the selection process in this case may well be: who can position themselves as the best successor to Donald Trump in the eyes of his base. Vivek clearly thinks so, which is why he was working so hard to be the Trumpiest dude on stage while also lavishing praise on the king.
Haley, Pence, and Christie are running for leadership of a party that doesn’t exist anymore, and I’m not sure why they bothered (though I’m glad they did). DeSantis did what he always does on the public stage: looked pathetic. Glancing around to see if it was safe to raise his hand was the most DeSantis thing he’s ever done. And if we’re honest, the other two guys barely exist.
So Vivek knows that he has a target audience, and he knows what they want to see: unfettered love and loyalty. Using the word ‘truth’ to say unpopular things they believe back to them, that they are mad about being unpopular.
I have no idea what he thinks his next steps are, because giving your opponents lines like “Donald Trump is the greatest president of the 21st-century“ and “climate change is a hoax“ to loop in swing state general election ads is a massive unforced error. But I think everyone else there was trying to find answers that could reach some independent voters as well as the party base, and he was only interested in the party audience…and getting the attention of Donald Trump.
Joe Biden looks like a mummy they found in the Arctic. If the republican party was in danger of picking a candidate who can appeal to the voters they lost over the last six years, this election would be a layup. But right now it looks likely that they are, as of yet, incapable of that.

I really enjoy this thing where Biden turns Republican speeches into ads.

how come no one called desantis out every time he brought up being with the navy seals in iraq to suggest he was in combat (which he wasn't)? he was a frickin' lawyer for the seals.

Same reason Christie is. They don’t hold an office so it’s the best way to stay relevant. It’s essentially a grift, as neither has a shot.

this was so embarrassing it was hard to watch.
chris christie cracks me up. he's been doing the 'screaming angry white guy' bit for a long time, but he didn't have a reality show that made him look like a business expert. he has to be so pissed off trump stole his act and became president/cult leader with it.
