Obiwan was set quite a few years before the Mandoverse though.

Obiwan was 10BBY, whilst Mandoverse is 9ABY.

19 years difference and being he is a clone it would mean hed be 38 years older from the older version we saw on Obi-Wan.

So I assume it would need to be a flashback.

Nah. It's a popular fan theory. Filoni confirmed that Nik Sant (dude from RotJ) isn't Rex.

But we do know from the Rebels finale that Rex was at The Battle if Endor.
