Just finished my first listen.

This thing is fucking great.

I'll need a lot more time with it before I can begin to think about it in comparison to the first album -- because that first album is a spectacular monster. Maybe this one ends up ranked higher but either way, it's a worthy follow up and further proof that Billie is legit fire.

TORRES - Thirstier

Outstanding. It's the first of her albums I've paid attention to since 2015's Sprinter. But damn this new one is legit.

exactly. The first one had so many midtempo songs it got boring eventually.

'Days Like These' just sounds... bad. Ambitious, absolutely, but blundered in execution. Jumping back and forth between crisp, clean vocals and that bitcrusher distortion you mentioned doesn't work at all in my opinion.

I liked them all but when NDA came out in combination with the video I had the same thought after watching it that I'd had after "Everything I Wanted" -- masterpiece

her lyrics are dark, creepy and hardhitting but witty and light as a feather too

That run of four that ends the album is so good! Might be the best four on the whole album for me.

I got to listen to two new albums today: Durand Jones and the Indications - Private Space (good but I need more time with it - not as immediately grabbing as their debut), and Yola - Stand For Myself (this was excellent - I couldn’t get through her first album, and this seems massively better on first listen).

William the Conqueror is a trio fronted by Ruarri Joseph who have released their 3rd album "Maverick Thinker" this year. It's a west coast blues album, not ground-breaking or anything, but I gotta say I really enjoy it.

Here's the opener Move On.
