To what end? I don't think I understand where you're going with this.
Ditto, but i'm kinda brain dead today.

All caught up. No joke I think this is the first time i've been caught up on a show since the second season of The Office.

I can't connect all the dots but ever since we saw Irv's files in S1 (and obviously the paintings) I've wondered if Irv had a history with the Test Floor. At first I thought maybe he was just a regular employee who later (for reasons to be revealed) became severed. Then, I started to wonder if maybe he's been severed more than once?

Now, I'm wondering if he went through what Gemma is going through now. Was Irv tested on the Testing Floor? Did he complete whatever it is and get returned? Was he severed before or after that?

Is it possible that the other man that Burt had an affair with at work, prior to Irv, that Fields mentions at dinner was... Irving?

Also, I was listening to a podcast breaking down some of the way music has been used both inside and outside of Lumon... and man, it really could be that Lumon is controlling even more than I thought. Like the music playing during the egg bar social in season one is the same as what's playing in the chineese restaurant last week when Helena talks to Mark. And obviously the Billy Holiday stuff. And the doctor on the Testing Floor quotes Gemma's final chat with Mark right back to her in one of the rooms....

This shit is so goddamn fascinating!

GREAT question. I'm not sure. Reghabi feels like a logical suspect. But given how hidden she's been, I wonder about Kobel, too...

This show is so good!

I wonder how much background or whatever the heck else Reghabi is doing. She's still a bit of an enigma to me

Is the Board actually real?

Right? There's a parallel in the way the last episode is shot/structured that implies Reghabi might be working with Helena. I'm not totally sold on that theory but one could make that case. Very interesting to see what more we learn about her and her backstory.

If the Board is real it's like three people, max.

They’ve essentially shown severing as a way to avoid unpleasant things like going to the dentist and I think at one point someone in the real world said their wife gave birth while severed? I could see there being some element of testing if the worst possible things can be experienced by your severed self without bleeding into the memory of your actual self. Loss of a loved one is the most traumatic thing you can experience, so maybe that’s the ultimate test?

There sure have been plenty of clues that the place where this all happens is Lumon’s “company town,” which would make a lot of sense considering how much of their philosophy and outlook on work reflects the 1800s/early industrial ages.

My pet theory was that Gemma was actually dead, that there was no “outie” and that when Ms. Casey wasn’t active the body was just on life support, and the experiment with her was so important because it was the final step in achieving immortality or something like that. Obviously not the case after this last episode, and while I do think it’s clear that Irv was experimented with on the lower floor, I don’t think we have enough to know what it was yet. Although I like the idea that he was severed multiple times.

I was thinking something similar about Gemma

It'd be the ultimate severance barrier test for Gemma.

Ah, gotcha. That made sense. I'm not sure how that tracks with her being released afterward and all of that or how that changes all of humanity forever and whatnot. But I dig it.

Also, they made a point of not showing Gemma's last name. Seeing a lot of folks speculating about why and what that means. Is she an Egan??!

I think the answer might be as simple as her least name is Casey. But that feels like a weird thing to hide.
