This is weirding me out. I don't hear any toothpaste gargling at all.
There's like a hard 'g' or something on the end of the word 'disastger'. But hey, if you can't hear it then that's good; it's one of two annoying things that other people have gone happily without noticing.
Lemme guess the other one. The opening of swallowed whole? Those phantom drums bug me every time.

I'm yet to listen to LB on headphones but when I do, these 2 moments will be finely picked over.

What are the phantom drums you guys are talking about? Is is that really strange clanky sound in the very distant background for the first 10 seconds or so?

This is the one song that's the most divisive for me, and it all completely relies on the mood I'm in. Overall, I think it's a great song.... I just don't always want to hear it. I wonder how it would be received had it never been on Ed's uke album? Anyway... the electric guitar on it reminds me of Christmas for some reason. The tone? I don't know.. maybe the same tone has been used on a Christmas song I'm distantly remembering?

Also, the first time I heard this song (and ever since), I immediately thought this song could easily fit into a Bright Eyes album. The guitars, the lyrics... And the drumming style is very reminiscent of some BE songs. If the song was slightly slowed down and sung with more forced drama, it'd be on Cassadaga

Does sound like Xmas guitar effect?

Lol ed had literally no clue what to play. Still love this song.

They need to play this alongside last kiss and last soldier for a trifecta of deceptively happy sounding but thoroughly depressing songs.

It's great, I love the version on the album.

I think the main problem live is that Ed can't hear his uke at all and it really throws him. Everything else sounded spot on though.
