It was the blade he found in that stash of shit left over from the first men. It was able to kill the white walker and he just left it on the fucking ground when he ran away with that broad. Dude, you might need to do that again at some point.

This confused me too. Even more confusing, if the blade kills white walkers, and he left the blade... Why the fuck did all the crows follow him? Are they going to peck at him to make him go back for the blade?

I need to correct myself. Ravens not crows. But still, is there a Bran Stark connection? As soon as the first raven landed, I audibly said, "Three eyed raven!!!"

I thought the episode was pretty good. Quite happy to see Dany's breast again. The Tyrion Sansa scenes were also very well done.

tyrion going off on Joffrey was fantastic.

I won't mention anything about the ravens since they haven't been explained in the show. I'm hoping that Sam the Slayer has another knife with him since they found a lot buried on the hill of the first men.

Pretty strong episode all around.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't fully understand the last scene.
I didn't catch it at the time but when reading through one of the online recaps I picked up on some major foreshadowing. It was in the episode but don't click if you don't know what happens later on.

the names Robb Stark, Balon Greyjoy and Joffrey were mentioned as the leeches were thrown on the fire.

I guess I didn't notice that he dropped it. Weird.

definite improvement from last week. Tyrion was great as usual.

He leaves it in the white walkers back and then when he disintegrates you see the blade fall to the ground. He grabs the girl and her baby and they take off leaving the blade there. You can see it in the last shot of the scene.

it's hard to miss because of the bad cgi making it look huge from the angle of the camera

He very well may turn around and retrieve it at the beginning of the next episode. It's been so long since I've read the books that I don't recall if this weapon comes into play again later....

Wait, so this was NOT a white walker, but one of those zombie things that Jon Snow killed by burning it? I knew there was a difference, but I always thought that the thing that Sam killed was a white walker and not those zombie things.

Can someone explain this?

We see them in the opening scene of the series, we see Caster feeding his "son" to them in Season Two, we see them marching at the end of Season Two, and we see Sam kill one with that blade.

Anyone who is killed by a White Walker rises again as a zombie thing (called Wights). Jon Snow kills one of these, not a White Walker. The only way to kill the wights is to burn them. So far, it seems the only way to kill a White Walker is the by using the stuff that Sam's blade was made from.

Because I've read the books, I have some thoughts/ideas. But I'm not certain because that scene is very different in the book.

Should be really fun/cool to see where they go with it.

it appeared to me that this was the same white walker that we see the close-up of to end season 2.

it was the first time in a while i yelled at the tv for a non-sporting event. "go get that knife you dumb-fatty"

Pretty sure they've done quite a bit of copy/pasting and reusing makeup molds for the white walkers.



Screw the veterans, I want a new episode. I'm ready for the payoff from all the build up this season.
