Just saw their channel lineup. Missing a lot the Vue has for roughly the same price. The charge for more DVR storage is a little odd too. Not a Hulu subscriber though, so your mileage may vary.

Do any of you live in older residences? I've had issues with 60 year old phone lines that the phone company wouldn't replace without charge. I liked DSL just fine until I had weird intermittent issues.
I seem to have to deal with the cable company as my ISP at least.

60 year old house here. Don't use phone lines, just have one cable into the house for the modem, and use wireless + OTA tv for everything else.

Same for me. Our phone lines are all jacked up. I don't even know where they all are.

We do SlingTV w/HBO as an add on, Hulu and Netflix through a Roku box. We had to get DSL installed, but it's well worth it. By the time everything's added up, it's around half of what the Premium satellite/cable packages are and we get to cater our tv experience.
We had Showtime for awhile and cancelled. Lots of stuff from there ends up on Hulu or Netflix. Ray Donovan and Homeland wasn't enough to justify the extra $15 a month. I'll end up buying Twin Peaks by the episode. I'm also a fan of Outcast, which is on Cinemax, but got a pretty good deal on the entire season from Vudu.

When we had our house built we didn't even have them put in phone lines.

I wouldn't either if I was building a new house. Maybe ethernet ports if it is a big house.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I can even see the argument for tech support.

What are you unlocking exactly when the fire stick is unlocked? We have 2 and I'm very curious about this.

I assume he's talking about the Kodi app, which anyone can install themselves with the help of a short youtube video.

I've officially cut the cord in my new place. Fortunately I get 20+ channels over the air, so I get all the network channels, plus PBS. I have Netflix and Amazon, and my brother's Hulu and Spectrum passwords, and my dad's HBO Go login info. I think I'm all set.
