Do you remember how massive the difference between 12 and 15 is? I don't know about you, but I don't mix up things I did when I was in 6th grade with things I did in high school.

I am uncharacteristically good with dates, but I know people who make mistakes like that all the time. It just seems like a really, really stupid thing to jump on her for. Who the hell cares?

Even speaking as someone who can't stand Taylor Swift, I completely agree with you.

I am kind of baffled as to why any of you deign to discuss this at all, but whatever.

Because we're Neanderthals with less sophisticated taste than you, obviously.

That has been a negative for Kanye, for me at least: his association with Kim and his meddling with Taylor Swift and all sorts of other dumb bullshit. He just comes off deeply insecure and in need of attention. I've always felt the more you have to say artistically the less the limelight generally matters to you. Most of my favorite artists are generally only in the news when they have, you know, actual art to promote. Kanye just comes off kinda desperate and sad.

I didn't mean it like that. It's the opposite: all the people involved are obviously smart, have good taste and are well spoken. So why waste time talking about bullshit like the VMAs? I get that it's pop culture and it's "all on the table" or whatever, but why aren't we talking about Nickleback or Chief Keef then? Cause they're about as artistically interesting as Miley Cyrus, at this point.

Careful Orpheus, or someone is going to write a vaguely worded song that kinda sorta hints at insulting you, then you'll get caught up in a rap battle over Twitter, followed by making up at the VMAs 2 years later.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar is meeting with Prince and David Bowie to create a Sun Ra inspired space concept album that will melt everyone's face, cause, ya know, that's kinda his bag.

Shes trying to act like she was down with the guy that completely disrespected her with the 'ima let you finish thing' by claiming to have DL'd college dropout as a 12 year old....you guys dont find that amusing?

none of those people can recontextualize sticking things in their vaginas like Miley can.

I found that post greatly amusing.

Because they didn't come up? I dunno, I'd gladly discuss either of those artists (though I don't know anything about Chief Keef) -- I just enjoy talking about music in general, and on the whole have never found there to be any significant correlation between how much I personally enjoy an artist's music is and how engaging a conversation about them might be.

Being a talented artist and being a celebrity who participates in pop culture are not mutually exclusive. Also, Kanye's insecurity has been discussed on RM already. Of course he is. It's an important part of what makes him compelling. Being insecure doesn't make him "sad."

I do not know who Chief Keef is. And for what it's worth, I read one of those "top 25 VMA moments" articles that popped up when I went to check my email, and I didn't recognize 2/3 of the people it mentioned.

David Bowie and Prince were/are exactly the same way.
