Trailer coming soon!
I was supposed to have come soon a month ago. I'll believe it when I see it. Honestly, I won't fully believe this film is happening until I've watched the entire thing. Twice.

Hmmm. Looks promising, but I think I was hoping for something with a "darker" feel to it? I'm probably just overreacting, it is gonna be great. I mean it has Elba and McConnagee in it. Let's see.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The trailer looks very Hollywoody. I'm not familiar with the source material, but this looks like your standard action movie.

My wife said the exact same thing. And we're both huge fans of the source material.

I think this trailer was designed to appeal to people who don't know the source material. I'm still excited. There are a few things that they got absolutely right. Those moments sing (Roland loading his gun! ). But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little underwhelmed by this trailer.

Again, still pumped for the movie. But hope the aesthetic of the trailer is designed to be more generic to bring in new fans and not totally indicative of what the film is, ultimately.

Also, did you catch the Overlook Hotel easter egg?

For me, overall the trailer looked over-produced. Hopefully this movie won't be brickwalled

You need to remember that this is the series with a talking train that tells riddles. If they're going to do some of that silly, fantasy stuff, they can't go too dark with the other stuff. Plus, the main characters are little kids.

As someone who read the books and didn't love them, and was only nominally interested in this movie, this trailer did increase my anticipation. So I was probably your audience. You losers were gonna see this anyway.

Idris Elba looks amazing. I hope this is his passport to superstardom. He's great.

Characters? There's one kid, though he does die a lot.
