This is the million dollar question. Also been wondering how quickly people on unemployment actually go back to work given the extra $600 on top of regular benefits.

All of Colorado will now descend upon your valley to recreate. All rich people with second homes here are now booking flights/letting their personal pilot know its time to go back to the mountains.

I think it’s ok for a handful of governors to begin lifting certain restrictions in certain counties. I am fully aware that some of the decisions made in the last few days are bad ones: some public schools reopening (MT is rumored, though no official word yet), sporting events, gyms in FL (wtf?!).

Not at all suggesting we go back to business as usual tomorrow, but just trying to offer a measured response to whatever is happening in your individual state.

Regardless, the virus is still as deadly, we still have no treatments. Sure, maybe we wont overwhelm the system, but i still have elderly friends that I care about, a dad that id like to be able to go back to Minnesota and see someday that might not happen if we're all getting infected again.

Here's the thing with our town:

Im a real estate appraiser. Many homeowners have had absolute zero problem with a stranger coming into their homes. People still think this is a hoax up here. I have been on the trail with a mask on and have come across numerous large groups that are still not following the social distance guidelines. Hell, I just had a homeowner try and shake my hand while I was there for an inspection.

It is already considered “off season” here anyway where business typically close down for the season to get ready for the summer influx of tourists and activities. What is the rush in opening back up for business? People have not taken this seriously and this will only cause greater harm.

I mean, there’s a pretty well defined scientific consensus on what conditions are necessary before we can safely reopen. It seems like a step towards wrong to divorce the discussion from actual medical advice.

Im scared because I have to inspect peoples homes and unless the people are smart enough to continue to take it seriously, then im in harms way constantly. Fuck that.

people didnt take the advice from medical professionals before and during, why would they start now?

Not if you’re suggesting that the regions currently reopening have three to four times the per capita testing capacity of the nation at large.
