I appreciate what they're going for and I share in their disdain for what they're spoofing but holy wow that joke wore out within 5 minutes of their first episode
Very cool.

This is exactly where I'm at. Unless some sort of major twist is coming. I totally agree.

So maybe this is it
Well, that's certainly incorrect, because at one point, there were 12 episodes.

Bob Iger said there were 12 films coming at a shareholder conference

That same week KK said they're gonna pump the brakes and starve us of Star Wars films.

So no. It wasn't incorrect.
I'm talking about Lucas's original plan. Not Disney's. At one point, Lucas said it would be 12 films.
Wait, what?

Really? Do you have a link or a source for this?

Pretty sure it was in a rolling stone interview from the late 70s. I'll see if I can find it.

Yeah, my memory is that Lucas always said he wanted a trilogy of trilogies. I'd be surprised to hear about 12 films. Not saying it isn't true, just not something I've heard before.

Per The Secret History of Star Wars, it was first announced in a Time Magazine article in 1978. Lucas also said it would take 23 years of continuous filming to do all 11 sequels finishing by in 2001.
Then it was repeated in the second and third issues of the official newsletter from Lucasfilm, Bantha Tracks. In all three, it was stated that all 12 films were chapters in The Adventures of Luke Skywalker.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It, along with the three Making Of... books by JW Rinzler are absolutely invaluable in learning about how the first three movies were made.

Yeah that joke got old, but with blockbuster season getting started, maybe they'll have something to work with.

It would want to be something really really special to move away from the Skywalker story and establish a new trilogy. I guess that could be what they're working on. Though they have referred to this as the Skywalker saga a few times.

If we see luke ignite his lightsaber in TLJ, the blade will be white.

Calling it now.

Exactly. This one is the Skywalker Saga. The next one will be a different saga. They can keep doing "saga" films forever if they want, but they don't all have to be the Skywalker Saga.

So that shot of Rey on the cliffside looks reversed in the trailer....

Interesting. Aesthetic choice or something else?

Thanks for posting that link wease. I've added it to iBooks and have skimmed though some of it. Really interesting stuff so far. I knew a few things but it's good to see those early ideas and just how different things were. I really wish Lucas would have stuck to some of those ideas. The idea of the "balance" and "the chosen one" and a virgin birth and making Anakin somewhat above human (like a Jesus) were all the wrong direction IMO.

Man, I could really nerd out with this, but maybe I'll just PM you. I learned a lot about the color of the saber from the Ahsoka book.

I wonder if this will be able to top Fate of the Furious for biggest global opening weekend ever. Probably not.
