Spoilers for The Revenant

The beginning

1. A camp of trappers gets attacked by Arikara, our man Glass (DiCaprio) and his half native American son are the guides of the trappers
2. A small groups escapes on a boat, Glass and son are amongst them
3. The group decides they are safer escaping by foot, and they bury the pelts
4. Glass gets attacked by a bear in an incredible scene
5. He survives, but is badly hurt. Three stay behind to guard him, to take him with them when he is ready (or bury him if he dies). Fitzgerald (Hardy) will get paid $300 when he gets back to the fort.
6. Once the main group leaves, Fitzgerald starts choking Glass. Glass’ son stops him, but is then killed. Stabbed to death.
7. Glass is left for dead, as the other two leave for the fort.

The middle

8. Glass begins his arduous journey through the wilderness.
9. He eludes the Arikara by jumping in the river.
10. He meets and befriends Hikuc, there are some dream sequences
11. Hikuc is murdered by French hunters
12. Glass infiltrates their camp, liberates a woman called Powaqa (who we did hear about earlier, the Arikara were mad about her being kidnapped), and kills several hunters
13. A French survivor keeps Glass’ canteen, and travels to the fort with it, alerting the camp, which sends them on a rescue mission for Glass’ son who they think is alive
14. They are shocked to find an exhausted Glass

The end

15. Fitzgerald has heard about Glass coming back, and escapes before he can get caught
16. Glass and camp leader Henry, leave the camp to chase Fitzgerald
17. Fitzgerald kills and scalps Henry
18. Eventually, Glass is about to kill Fitzgerald, but he spots a band of Arikara downstream.
19. He pushes Fitzgerald downstream into the hands of the Arikara.
20. Their chief Elk Dog kills and scalps Fitzgerald, and the Arikara spare Glass (Powaqa is with them)
21. Glass retreats into the mountains, where he is visited by his wife's spirit.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I remember that first attack scene being pretty spectacular.

This movie is almost like one endless action scene. It works, and is beautifully shot, but there’s also a limit to how great it can be with so little story.

It’s probably another top ten movie from 2015 for me, which is certainly not bad. Had fun watching it again.

Creed

Think I’ve only seen this once. Thought it was one of the best films in the Rocky universe.

We’re enjoying it, certainly on different levels, but no negative reactions from her.

Inside Out is another that didn't fully click with me. And I was very much surprised given the description

At the theater waiting for Sisu to start. I haven't watched any trailers or clips so I'm not really sure what to expect.
