I've got about a half hour left and I'm seriously underwhelmed. It's a very weird sequel. There hasn't been much action so far, and the supporting cast is a huge stepdown from raiders.

Willie is annoying, short round is ok, but he's no Sallah and the villain is pretty bland - especially compared to Belloq who was fantastic.

It's just been worse in every single way.

Raiders set the bar awfully high. I would probably like this movie more if I'd watched it first.

I know a lot of my love is nostalgia based, but I love the weirdness and the action sequences near the end. I’m definitely in the minority

I will give you the Willie annoyance though.

It's my favorite of the original three. It has the Anything Goes sequence leading into the street chase, a rope bridge, that gross feast with monkey brains, the awesome minecart sequence, the best score out of all of them. It's gorgeous and pulpy as hell and kind of dark / angry in a way few Spielberg movies are. I love it.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The minecart sequence was fantastic, but overall I'd still call Temple a step down from Raiders, but again, that's a very high bar. I'm going to watch Crusade tomorrow night and probably skip Crystal Skull.

The same people who tell you ToD is great will also tell you Crystal Skull is garbage. And I'll never understand it.

I barely remember Crystal Skull. I disliked it strongly when I watched it, but I should revisit it

I remember a small amount, but same on a revisit.

I don’t really get comparing it to Crystal Skull…

Top tier of movies:
1. Raiders
Really great:
2-3. TOTD / Last Crusade
Just ok:
4. Crystal Skull

TOTD was my favorite as a child, but upon revisiting them as an adult (a few times), I now consider Raiders to be the best of a great initial trilogy. Crystal Skull is ok as just a random movie, but a bit of stain on this excellent franchise.

I'm in the same boat. I saw it in the theater (I don't remember why I saw crystal skull and not the original trilogy) and all I remember is the fridge, a really terrible cgi vine swinging sequence and that I didn't like it very much.

Lately I've been of the mindset that if I haven't seen a movie in 7-10 years, my opinion of it has probably changed and it needs revisiting
