The ship ackbar not ackbar(general radiss) is in has had its engines disabled. It's the one Vader boards. It's unlikely Vader was taking any prisoners at that point.

I think that there may be some saving of characters in order to use them in other standalones as supporting characters.

Felicity jones is signed for two films. Alone out of the entire cast.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
In fairness another board in on is railing against R1 for fan service and shoe horning.
I'm not onboard with that at all but ackbar would have been overkill. He can't be the *only* mon cal in the rebellion.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
okay fine, but they just put a blue colored ackbar out there. why not make him at all different? it was like shoehorning ackbar into the moving without actually doing it.

Hey. There's a girl as the main character who was left alone at a young age and ends up a hero. And hangs out with a guy dressed like Han Solo.
God Star Wars is sooooo repetitive

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
So in any war movie I've ever liked, I would usually identify with a main character and generally care more about them than everyone else. Yes, it was always a bummer when the other characters die, but always hits harder when the main character dies. This was a war movie through and through, and a good one at that. It starts out with why our main character is going to war, which gives us a reason to root for her. In this case we knew the outcome of the mission but I don't think that detracted too much from it. I still found myself on edge during the battle on Scarif.
I think the story moved along fine. Achieve some intermediate goals to forward the progress of the end goal.
The cinematography aspect was brilliant as I expected from Edwards. Beautiful, really.
I thought all of the SW tie ins were fine. I think the whole "force is with me" thing was a little overkill, especially with no Jedi featured in the movie. (Which it didn't need)
I did really enjoy hearing "General Syndulla" over the intercom.
I can't say this is better or worse than any other Star Wars film because they all are tied together in such a different way. As far as enjoyment, I enjoyed this more than TFA.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
It was signed before Rogue One started filming. A theory I read suggested she made it out alive but then the rewrites happened. I'll try to find the article.E.H. It doesn't really say much. Kind of pointless. Much like that 2nd movie clause.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
We see K2 dying in Rogue One.
And somehow that Death hit harder than us watching Han die.
So what are the odds they're working and re editing 8 in light of how people have reacted to rogue one?
