I enjoyed Carol. Was a good movie. Best thing I can say is that it had some great scenes, and a wonderful Rooney Mara performance. Worst is that it was very straightforward and at times a little dull.

Have started Brooklyn now. Final movie on my list of movies from 2015. Been waiting to see this one. Will go to bed soon though, so just half an hour today.

Lately I've been of the mindset that if I haven't seen a movie in 7-10 years, my opinion of it has probably changed and it needs revisiting

There's something to this, but I think it's also partly a function of age. Maybe I didn't understand something when I was 23 but now that I've had my heart broken and I've been to Texas or whatever I might understand it. Or I loved something when I was 19 but now I'd just find it saccharine. One changes and experiences a lot in one's youth. But we slow down in time. If I see something at age 35, I feel confident I'd feel similarly about it at 45.

"Crater" is a smartly-written family sci-fi movie with a lot of heart, watch it with your kids (it might be a bit slight for very little ones)

To Catch a Killer. Wow! Great thriller, really well made. Way better than try-hard Wild Tales.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

First movie of 2016. Pretty poor. Might be the worst of the mainstream YA movies of the 2010s.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Saw this in the cinema, was a real disappointment. Always enjoyed the first one. I will give the sequel another try today.

Have also watched Magnus, In A Valley of Violence, The Duel, Sausage Party, Dyrene I Hakkebakkeskogen, Welcome To Norway, Fantastic Beasts, Bad Neighbors 2, Miss Saigon: 25th Anniversary, Børning 2, Brimstone and London Has Fallen from 2016 already this year.

Saw Risen and Silence last year, so won’t rewatch them in 2023.

Damn that movie sucks

It’s pretty poor, and yet the best of the two movies today. Excluding a handful of poor b-movies that I didn’t like, I have actually rated three 2016 movies worse than this one, Tarzan, 5th Wave and Allegiant. Not planning on rewatching the other two anytime soon.
