Swiss Army Man

«A hopeless man stranded on a deserted island befriends a dead body, and together they go on a surreal journey to get home.»

Been looking forward to this one. Not seen it before. Starting now.

This was as strange as The Lobster that I saw recently. Both Dano and Radcliffe are excellent. Story could have been better overall, but I did enjoy this movie.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The Lobster is brilliant and far less strange.

SAM is literally just a long fart joke.

Are You There God, It's Me Margaret.

Lovely. An pitch perfect coming of age film. Rachel McAdams is an international treasure. We should rename the Oscars after her.

Being strange isn’t bad, and I liked both. Don’t agree with that last line about SAM being one long joke.

It’s a public holiday in Norway today, for Christ going to heaven.

Rewatching a couple of Norwegian movies. Rosemari is probably the best of them, although Birkebeinerne (The Last King) is based on an incredible true viking age story, and was a big budget movie here.

2016 off to a good start, with exactly 100 movies left after the movies mentioned above. Just under half are first time watches, with the rewatches including all my previously highly rated movies (3.5 out of 5 or better) of the year.

Yes, I remembered correctly. Rosemari is an interesting story about a teenage girl looking for her biological parents. She was left as a baby at a wedding.

Birkebeinerne / The Last King is a mess, a bit of a cartoonish look on real history.

Rewatching the original Suicide Squad now. Remember it as boring, but not as bad as some say. Light entertainment when it’s at its best.

Honestly, it’s worse than I remember, just couldn’t get through it. Will now watch Inferno.

Inferno is kind of boring, but at least it’s probably the worst 2016 movie left.
