That would be incredibly rude

it's really not that complicated. follow the arrows? still plenty of opportunity to be a decent human and say excuse me, too!

The only way that makes sense is if the aisle is so skinny that only one cart can fit through at a time.

Otherwise fuck that incredibly terrible idea.

As I recall my local grocery store tried that shit during covid. Social distancing. LOL.

or you know, walk down the right side and look at whats on the left. park your cart on the right side and walk to the left, grab your item and go back to your cart instead of blocking up the whole aisle with your cart and body causing a huge jam

I never said i never say excuse me, i just find it annoying

I guess this fits the thread title because I think it's very silly to care about this

I don't even go to the grocery store lol. maybe once a week to pick up an item or two. but when I do, the amount of people who are cluelessly in the way is absurd. maybe that's where my hatred lies. that and people who drive 5 miles an hour under the speed limit. or just other people on the roads all together

Oh, I completely agree with this. But this stems from people's lack of courtesy and them being oblivious to their surroundings, not being on the right or left side of the aisle.

I only get annoyed when people stop in the main thoroughfares to check their phones.

Oblivious people are exactly why we need unwritten societal rules like right or left side.

Let’s talk about people who bring their bikes on commuter trains next.

My c-store has self checkout kiosks and cashier service.

There's only one line, and people in line disproportionately favor the cashier service. I end up waiting to use the self-checkout because it feels rude to bypass people to get to it when I don't know which check out they're going to choose.

When there's only one person in front of me, I'll ask if they're in line for the kiosk, but when there's like five people in line, I'm not going to ask everyone.

I also have an irrational hatred for people who use the cashier instead of the kiosk, and I understand that is truly irrational.

People have many reasons for preferring human interaction over the machine, and I share that feeling in a lot of aspects of my life, but when it comes to just getting in and out to buy a breakfast taco and a coffee, that kiosk is frictionless and the people who wait in line are dumb.

there is not as much of this as in the fair weather months. Im ok with it to an extent. our busses have racks in the front for those people. on the Train your ass needs to board last and let people get their seats. if you need to stand then so be it. i really get side eye when they insist on carrying their bikes up the escalator instead of taking the elevator or placing the bike down on the escalator once everyone has got on it

what are your thoughts on people who have a full grocery cart and use the self checkout kiosk?

Unparalleled loathing

Mine is about convenience stores, but I get your point.

Self-checkout at grocery stores should be limited to things that can fit in one bag.

I love when you’re walking behind someone and they just dead stop without considering someone is there. Happens in the airport all the time.
